Position Descriptions

The following positions will be available to successful Broadcast Training Programme applicants during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

LOGGER ARCHIVIST
LOGGER ARCHIVIST
Helps the production department keep an ongoing tape and written summary of the Games by filing daily incoming feeds that Rights Holding Broadcasters use as highlights.

He/she keeps track of the numeric time code clock displaying the exact time and location on the tape where the particular action can be found. Logger may also be responsible for dubbing.
CAMERA ASSISTANT
CAMERA ASSISTANT
Assists camera operators during the transmission of the international signal, performs set up, general maintenance, and camera tear down.

He/She eliminates potential obstacles to the camera`s field of view and keeps camera cables untangled by using the over and under cable coiling method.

COMMENTARY SYSTEMS OPERATOR
COMMENTARY SYSTEMS OPERATOR
Assists with the setting up and dismantling of venue commentary system equipment, operates the equipment, and provides technical assistance to commentators.

He/she also assists in locating and resolving problems that may occur during the operational phase.

LOGISTICS ASSISTANT
LOGISTIC ASSISTANT
Responsible for a variety of tasks assigned considering production needs.

His/Her responsibilities may include making travel arrangements, undertaking research, getting supplies to the crew in the middle of the shoot, being a driver for personnel, etc...

UTILITY
UTILITY
Assists with the set up and tear down of cables and equipment, including running audio and video cables, transporting and setting up cameras, monitoring audio equipment and ensuring all equipment is working. The responsibilities of this role are primarily before and after the sports competition so during production people in this role are reassigned to other support duties.
AUDIO ASSISTANT
AUDIO ASSISTANT
Helps check overall operation of audio equipment assists with audio production techniques, places microphones, and undertakes general audio troubleshooting.

He/She receives instructions from the Audio Supervisor and his/her responsibility may include patching the various microphones in the inputs/outputs patch panel.

LIAISON OFFICER
LOGISTIC ASSISTANT
Assists Rights Holding Broadcasters with information and production requirements, including commentary positions and pre- and post-competition live interviews. Strong communications skills and a good command of English are required to be a Liaison Officer.
BUSINESS ASSISTANT
LOGGER ARCHIVIST
Responsible for tracking employee/freelance time sheets, petty cash reconciliation, and for tracking broadcast equipment inventory. Applicants should be a junior or senior majoring in accounting (or a related field), have a proven familiarity with bookkeeping, and understand fixed assets.
INTERPRETER
CAMERA ASSISTANT
Assist BOB and/or Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHB) in translation.
